Information we collect

• Account information: your email address and password. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider; passwords are never stored in plain text.
• Content you add: books you import or add (EPUB files and pasted text), highlights, notes, saved words, and items saved for later.
• Reading activity: reading position, reading time, streaks and review progress, used to show your progress and resume where you left off.
• Text you look up or translate: when you tap a word or translate a passage, that word or passage and a little surrounding text are sent to our AI providers to generate the meaning or translation you asked for.
• Early-access list: if you join it on our website, your email address, used only to tell you about uSage.

How we use this information

Only to provide uSage's own features: storing and syncing your library, showing meanings and translations, reviews, reading progress and streaks.

We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your data for advertising. uSage contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs. All data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

Service providers

We use these providers to run uSage. They process data only on our behalf and only to provide the service:

• Supabase — account sign-in.
• Cloudflare — secure connections and storage of book files.
• Groq and Google (Gemini) — AI that generates word meanings and translations from the text you look up.
• Brevo — sends emails to the early-access list.
• Our own server (hosted in the EU) — stores your library, highlights, saved words and reading progress.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete account). This permanently removes your account, books, highlights, notes, saved words, reading history, and the offline data on your device. You can also ask us to delete it by email.

Children

uSage is a general reading app. We do not knowingly collect more than an email address from anyone, and we use the data of all users only to provide the app's features.
